What is Eco-Pork?

Red-Tail Ridge is a North Carolina CHOICES Eco-Pork participating farm. Like the antibiotic-free label, animals sold under this label do not receive antibiotics. Pigs are raised in alternative housing such as deep-bedded hoop houses, barns, or on pasture. They are not raised in conventional confinement systems using lagoons for waste management. Farmers also work closely with project partners to develop sound environmental plans to minimize negative impacts on soil, air, and water quality. Farmers also work to follow the guidelines of an animal welfare organization such as the American Humane Association or the Animal Welfare Institute.
